This is the start

Hi everyone! My name is Julia, and I am a 23 year old recent college grad. I made this blog for the sole reason to keep myself motivated, as I begin Kayla Itsines' BBG program. From what I have seen from people's results, it's a program that many have benefited from.

Growing up I was always super active and thin but once I hit puberty, I always had a little bit of belly fat that just wouldn't go away. And then once I hit college it all went downhill from there. I ate what I wanted, drank, and barely ever exercised. The weight gradually packed on, so I never I added an extra couple of pounds to the scale, I never thought that much of it.

I am only 5 feet tall and currently weight 134.7 pounds, which is actually better that the 138 I weighed myself at last month (yay). While to most people, that seems like a good and healthy weight, but unfortunately with how short I am, that actually puts me as overweight with a BMI of 26.3. I have never been that absolutely teeny short person. I've always had muscular legs and a little bit of belly pudge, but now I have a lot of belly fat, and look like I'm pregnant! I constantly suck in my stomach so no one notices, so that's pretty sad.

I have finally decided that it is time to actually do something about it. I'm tired of being tired, and hate feeling ashamed of my body. I haven't worn a swim suit in years because I'm so embarrassed!
I'm currently working on my diet to make it more plant based and less processed but it's proving to be difficult since I'm incredibly picky and dislike vegetables.

Something that makes me want to shape up more, is the fact that my brother's wedding is in September of this year. When I try on bridesmaids dresses and look at the pictures of me in them, I am absolutely horrified. I barely recognize myself!

Running the Princess Half in Disney World
I also have a 10k and half marathon in the same weekend coming up in the end of February that I haven't really trained for. I know, I'm crazy and my body is going to be paying for it when I'm done, but I've done it before, so I know I'll do it again.

My plan is to do BBG Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while running Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. I did the first day of BBG last night, and to do the whole thing and stretch only took me 20 minutes. I feel like I did something wrong, because that seems a bit too quick. Today I plan on doing a run/walk of 3 miles and we'll see how that goes (probably not well).

Here's to hoping that for once I can actually stick to a workout plan, and not die at the end of february.

Have a good day everyone!

Julia

Update: I just got a call about blood work I had done, and a few things were high. My bad cholesterol was 209, when it should be 200 or less, my triglycerides were 303 when optimal is below 150 and my VDL was 61 and optimal for that is 4 - 28. I can't believe it, so even more motivation for me is to get my blood work normal, and be truly healthy. Clearly my diet is very poor, so it needs to be worked on!
